I see in a post below you were questioning where membership fees were going in the HTBM. I find that quite interesting due to the fact that the same question was asked about the American Rodsmith Tour that you repeatedly promoted on here yet the question never was clearly answered, other than the last reply which it seemed someone had gotten a little offended by the question. Your worried about a little podunk trail that generates 2 grand off membership fees, yet you dont question the Rodsmith who will make $10000 off every hundred boats? At least Mr. McClain can answer that question straight up, I applaud him for that. Just to spare someone the trouble of posting it, I know if I dont like the membership then fish something else. What a crock! ripalip

Dale, its like death and taxes. What are the options would you suggest.

I'm not complaining about paying the fees, just said I think its funny how he questions another trails fees when he cant clearly answer the same question about the trail he's promoting! ripalip

I see your point. I guess I just think most people are smart enough to see through most of the dribble.

Yet still no answer from you on where the thousands of $$$$ for the American Rodsmith Tour will be going. You can slam my name just like everyone else on here has, if you have to pick and prod at me because of my name in order for you to weasel your way out of answering the question then so be it.

Dale, we all know that the ART money is goin straight into the pockets of Mr. and Mrs. Tannehill and apparently into Clayton's pocket as well. I love the line that Mrs. Tannehill wrote back when the topic was hot, I dont remember the words exactly but it was somethin like, "...I will not show my books to anyone..." (sounds fishy) blah blah blah "...good luck finding another tour that will payback 100% like we do..." I would love for someone to explain to me what the definition of 100% payback is??? I thought it meant that for every dollar paid into the tournament $1 would be paid back to the fisherman. I dont wanna start this whole convo over again, bc we know that ART can do no wrong, and I'm certainly not trying to bash the Tannehill's bc i dont even know them, but hear pretty good things about them. What I would like to know is how can HTBM run a 40 boat trail with no sponsors and still payback a bonefide 100%, when ART requires operating fees of $10,000 per 100 hundred plus sponsor money? HTBM sounds like a great deal to me... Clayton, I would love your input. ripalip

I don't know anything about the other trails, or how they are run or financed. Just an honest question...Do you suppose they consider 100% payback to mean paying out every dollar not spent on expenses? Maybe I'm naive, but I would think the sponsors and membership dues would pay expenses.

To me, 100% payout means paying 100% of the entry fee money back to the anglers who win it. The Basskwondo Team Tournament Trail will do just that. 40% for 1st, 30% for 2nd, 20% for 3rd and 10% for Big Bass. There are no membership dues or hidden fees. Basskwondo (Me and my fireman check) is covering the permit fees, scales, promotion, etc. It won't be flashy. There probably won't be any celebrities or spectators, but there will be a great bunch of guys enjoying a day of bass fishing competition and a few "lucky/good" anglers will cash a check. A check that will probably include my own entry fee money, unless I fall under the "lucky" category. Other lucky contestants will likely receive a nice tackle pack donated by me.

At any rate, we kick off from the North ramp at Lake Murray, Feb. 27. Be there before daylight so we can collect entries and check livewells. For questions call 580-704-6488.

    Thanks.

Just from a newby look'in from afar, if Clayton asked the question cause he plans on fishing high times fair question,if just to poke Mitch then he needs to answer the question posed to him by both Dale and Klye.I would like to hear answer myself.ripalip

First off Mitch, Dwight and Clayton are both great guys. Both run a great trail. And Clayton helps out Dwight alot and would do anything for just about anyone! Back to the membership fees... Like Mitch said that type of money goes to banquets at the end of the year. As it does for Dwight. Trust me NO money goes back in his pocket, alot of the times Dwight ends up paying out of his own pocket. These three guys, Mitch, Clayton, and Dwight run great trails If anyones looking to fishing something please looking into the HTBM or LCA or the ART you will be very pleased!! I know LCA is a great ran trail. Everyone pretty much comes home with something. If these guys say it %100 payback then it is whats the big deal ? People that put on a trail put alot of time and effort into these things. In my opinion I think a DT should earn alittle for there time. If they choose not to then thats their choice. If you think the entrys and memebership or to high then maybe some people are in the wrong hobby.

Just a idea... When the DT makes the entry form with the rules they need to add what the memebership fee go to, so everyone can read it and see if thats the right trail for them! Just a thought!

Either way, all three of you guys keep up the great work and time you put into these trails. If there wasn't guys like you we wouldn't have great trails like this in Oklahoma with this good of pat-outs. You guys must be doing something right!!

I fished the LCA tour last year for the first time and if you Look at all the door prizes and all the Other things that Dwight and the other guys do for the anglers who fish, you would understand that they make almost nothing off of it from the way I figure
and then there is the Rising Star tourney that every kid get something no matter what and further more if you don't like it don't fissh with them and if you don't fish the LCA tour then don't gripe cause the ones of us that do and that know Dwight know that he would do just about anything for anyone.

That is just my opinion take it or leave it

Why would anyone consider it their "business" to know exactly how membership fees are spent? Call BASS or FLW & see if they'll tell you how they spend your membership $$
Fact of the matter is...it takes money to run a tourney trail, that's where those dollars are going, you fish for a chunk of the entry fee pot, not the membership pot.
And JMHO, but it's rude and asinine to call out a tx director in a public forum, demanding to know what's NUNYA (none of ya business).

Clayton would you like an entry form? I can email one to you if you would like. I scheduled around all major trails. Triton, Ranger, FOM, BWS, BFL, ART. So it will not conflict with any of them. Let me know.

cant speak about mitch or clayton but dwight i can by aaron stitesMember Profile,2/9/2010 07:08 CT
i run a small trail myself and can tell you there is no money in it. after permits and any material costs are paid ours goes back in classic. i have recently became acquainted with dwight and i am positive he is out for one group of guys and that is the anglers. I'm not sure about the comment " the money goin staight into the tannehills pockets" has any place on a public forum. My advice to people with the probl3em with where their membership money goes is run your own tourney and see how much fun it is when you have to answer to 5% of the turds when 95% are lovin you
Good answer Aaron. by Kenneth SutleyMember Profile,2/9/2010 08:17 CT
Good answer Aaron. Frankly I could care less how my membership money is spent unless it's going to support terrorists. I look at it this way, my membership is just my way of paying someone else to do the work that needs to be done to allow me to fish that trail. If they buy scales or a new flat screen tv for their home makes no difference to me. I'm in the camp of thinkers who don't think it's anyones business where my membership money goes. I pay them to run a fair and fun tournament and if they do I'll pay my dues. If they don't then I won't. Simple as that.
